When you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular company. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically as soon as the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the emails for that particular Internet domain. The site and the email hosting are typically regarded as one thing, while they are actually two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different companies if you wish. For instance, some new service provider can have superb uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you could get the best of both companies. These records are checked whenever you want to open a site or send an e-mail - either way, the provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed website or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every cloud hosting plan we offer you, will enable you to view, modify and set up A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Setting up new records is as easy if, as an illustration, you wish to use the e-mail services of another service provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You can even set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Put simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Through our innovative tool, you are going to be able to control the records of your domains and subdomains with ease even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will allow you to view the A and MX records for each of the domain addresses or subdomains in your account and if required, to edit any of them or set up new ones. Handling these records is incredibly easy as all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and if you experience any issues, you can check out our video tutorials on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to give you total control over all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are switching your emails to a different company and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
